Horatiu Nastase: is a Romanian physicist and professor in the High energy physics group at Brown University in Providence, RI, USA.He was born in Bucharest, Romania and finished high school at Nicolae Balcescu High School (now Saint Sava National College). He did his undergraduate studies in the Physics Department of the University of Bucharest, graduating in 1995. His last year there he studied at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI), Copenhagen University, with a scholarship which continued into the following year. In 1996 he joined the Physics Department of the State University of New York at Stony Brook from which he received his PhD in May 2000. From 2000 to 2002 he was a postdoc at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, after which he came to Brown.

Horatiu Radulescu: was a Romanian-French composer, best known for the spectral technique of composition. One of the first works to be completed in Paris (though the concept had come to him in Romania) was Credo for nine cellos, the first work to employ his spectral techniques. This technique "comprises variable distribution of the spectral energy, synthesis of the global sound sources, micro- and macro-form as sound-process, four simultaneous layers of perception and of speed, and spectral scordaturae, i.e. rows of unequal intervals corresponding to harmonic scales" (Radulescu 1993).
