The actress and recording artist Zendaya has accused a grocery clerk of discriminating against the color of her skin. This all happen after she was not permitted to purchase $400 worth of gift cards.
In fact, the actress went to snap chat to post about her experience – where a clerk said she could not afford that amount of gift cards and even tossed her wallet. Zendaya said that the lady was not a big fan of the color of her skin. Even her friend agreed, stating that they deal with this all the time due to the fact that they are black.
In the end, a manager did help Zendaya buy the gift cards. Moreover, the company released a press statement that outlined the store policy on gift cards using a credit card – a limit that Zendaya was over. The statement did not end there, though, it went on to say they respect her voice and the community.
Zendaya replied to the statement in a later snap and wished the clerk all the best.
