While Yassin Alsalman was born in Dubai and comes from Iraq, he grew up in both the UAE and Canada. Alsalman is now settled down in Montreal, Canada, to work on his music, under the stage name The Narcicyst.
Alsalman is well-known for his role in “Khalfan,” in the Emirati film “City of Life,” which was directed by Ali F. Mostafa. Besides being an actor, he is also a journalist and hip hop MC. He has produced four albums in Canada at a local recording studio – The Narcicyst, Fear of an Arab Planet, Mr. Asthmatic, and World War Free Now!
In 2011, he was on a single called “#Jan25,” which featured many artists, and was influential in the Egyptian revolution that all started on the 25th of January, 2011. The song gave a voice to people during the revolution and was an ode to Twitter. He has many other hit singles, from Fly Over Egypt to Leap of Faith.
Alsalman also goes by the name Narcy, and once taught at Concordia University. It was a fun course on hip-hop history. He was named one of the 100 most influential young Arabs in the world by Arabian Business in 2016.
