The well-known comedian, Wanda Sykes was booed off a stage at a charity benefit, after she made some anti-Trump remarks. In fact, she even gave people the middle finger and shouted a bunch of expletives to the audiences at an event in Boston.
The TD Garden arena was the location of the 22nd annual - Comics Come Home fundraiser - which was packed. The show was raising money for the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care and was no place to start talking politics.
According to the Boston Herald, Sykes told the crowd it’s “not the first time we’ve elected a racist, sexist, homophobic president, he’s just the first confirmed one, that’s all.” However, the reaction from the crowd was not supportive, as she was booed off stage.
Before Sykes left the stage, a woman, who had a peace sign, hugged her and receive a lot of cheers from the audience. Even the following performer, Denis Leary, came to her defense afterward and told the crowd to respect Sykes.
The feminine name Wanda is probably from a Germanic name that means “a Wend”, which refers to the Slavic people that were located in eastern Germany. The name was made popular by Polish legends, as it was the name of the legendary founder of Krakow, who was the daughter of King Krak.
