Stephen King Has Responded to the Clown Sightings in US

The famous writer of horror novels, screenplays and other works of art has told people in America to cool down after the recent wave of scary clown sightings. This is the author who wrote “IT,” with Pennywise the murderous clown, and he is worried about the mass hysteria that seems to be evolving.

The first crazy clown was spotted in Greenville, South Carolina, where a young boy told his mother that a couple of clowns had tried to take him away. Since then they have been seen all over the place, from New York, Florida, Kentucky to Wisconsin. In fact, they have been spotted in over 24 states with some clowns being arrested.

Pennywise the clown was played by the actor Tim Curry way back in the TV adaptation. A new film is scheduled to come out soon, that stars Bill Skarsgard as the killer clown and some are speculating that the spooky clown activity is just marketing.

Despite the fact that King has contributed to Coulrophobia, which is the fear of clowns, he is urging millions of people not to worry.

The masculine name Stephen was taken from the Greek name Stephanos that means “crown”. It was given to Saint Stephen who was stoned to death. Due to his acts as a Christian martyr and a deacon he popularized the name in the Christian world. Nowadays, it is the name of many notable people, like Stephen Hawking the British physicist.
