Stephanie Harvey – Canadian E-Gamer

At the age of 30-years-old, Stephanie Harvey is “one of the world's most successful female video gamers in the billion dollar industry of e-sports”. She is well-known for her five world championships in Counter-Strike and Counterstrike: Global Offensive. She is signed with Counter Logic Gaming Red as part of an all-girl gaming group, called UBINITED.

When she is not playing video games, she is designing them at Ubisoft in Montreal. According to Harvey, “Whenever I see another woman succeed, I think I can do it!” This Canadian video game developer believes in equal rights and has been known to speak up against gender discrimination in the industry.

In fact, “Miss Harvey” as she is known in the video game world, has co-founded the online community Miss Clicks to address the underrepresentation of females in video game and geek culture. Even highlighting the gender disparity in the gaming world, as women earn significantly less than men and face constant sexual harassment and verbal abuse.

Miss Clicks was started in 2016 by a team of female professional gamers to create a safe space for females and to promote role models in gaming. In 2016, Harvey was named one of the 100 most influential women in the world for her work online by BBC.

The name Stephanie is the feminine version of Stephen, which is derived from the Greek name Stephanos that means “crown” or “that which surrounds”. Nowadays, the name is used in both English and Spanish speaking cultures.
