Seif Abou Zaid – Egyptian Entrepreneur

As a social and policy entrepreneur, Seif Abou Zaid focuses on education and how it relates to governance. He graduated from the American University located in Cairo with political science degree and was drawn to entrepreneurship. As such, he ended up co-founding an Agency for Development and Enhancement, that aims at training young people that are between 15 to 35 years old.

The Nabadat Foundation has uses technology to enhance political awareness and improve education, as well as, “grown from strength to strength”. When he is not working at the Foundation, he is the CEO of Tahrir Academy, which is a blended learning platform that uses stimulating learning experiences to educate many Arab and Egyptian registered learners. The system empowers them to choose, think, and decide.

For many years, he has focused on building from the ground up different grassroots organizations that help people using technology. His goal is to improve education, fight poverty and increase political awareness. He is accomplishing this through Protect Your Voice, which is a voting bloc that has a goal to protect Egyptians basic rights. In 2016, Abou Zaid was named one of the 100 most influential young Arabs in the world by Arabian Business.

The masculine name Seif means “sword of religion” in Arabic. While the name Abou is used as both a given and surname. The name Zaid is another Arabic masculine name that means “to prosper”. While others believe that the name Zaid is a variant transcription of Zayd, which means “to increase” in Arabic.
