The Emmy-nominated actor, Ronald Earle “Ron” Glass has died at the age of 71-years-old from respiratory failure, according to his agent Jeffrey Leavett. Glass was known for his prolific character on the cop comedy “Barney Miller,” as the gregarious detective Ron Harris.
Leavett described Glass as a gentle, private and caring man, who was an amazing actor. Leavett and Glass were good friends and it will take some time for Leavett to grieve.
Even though Glass was well-known for his role in “Barney Miller,” he also appeared in many other shows, from film to television starting in the 1970s. He even appeared in “Firefly” the science-fiction show from 2002 and its sequel “Serenity” as Derrial Book the spiritual shepherd.
Glass was cast in “The New Odd Couple,” which is a remake of the original Broadway classic. He also did voiceover work in “Rugrats” and “All Grown Up” the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, as Randy Carmichael. Not to mentions his appearances on “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Friends,” “Hawaii Five-O,” or “CSI.”
