The “Invisible Man” of pop music, Rodney Lynn “Rod” Temperton has died at the age of 66 years old. He was known for some super-hits throughout the 1970s and 80s. Temperton liked to wear his hair big, with bell bottoms and wide lapels, even his music helped to define the disco era.
He was well-known for his hit songs, including “Rock with You,” “Thriller,” and “Boogie Nights.” Not to mention his disco songs that had some amazing harmonies and great horn parts. He was often compared to Stevie Wonder, as Temperton had an uncanny ability to create a song that had soul and funk. He has created songs for Donna Summer, Anita Baker and George Benson just to name a few people.
According to his publisher, Temperton passed away from cancer in London. His family held a private funeral for the songwriter and requests complete privacy at this sad time.
