The name was introduced to Britain by the Normans and has since become very popular. It has been given to three English Kings, like Richard the first. Not only that, the name belongs to many famous people, from the German opera composer Richard Wagner to Little Richard the American Musician. Now you can add Richard Silverthorne to the this list of notable Richards.
