The former Playboy model, Pamela Anderson has recently coauthored an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal regarding the dangers of pornography. However, the unwitting porn star (from a sex tape that was stolen by her ex-husband Tommy Lee) is not being taken seriously.
Even though Anderson wrote the piece with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, titled “Take the Pledge: No More Indulging Porn,” it is being slammed by some. The piece addresses the impact that pornography has on a person, from their ability to function in the real world to how it changes a person’s behavior in the bedroom. Even going so far as to state that porn is a public hazard that is easily available, which takes away from a healthy sexual experience.
Many people think that Anderson and Boteach missed the real underlying problem – that it is not pornography, but societies lack of an open and honest conversation about health sex in the real world. What is even more disappointing? That Pamela Anderson is a sex icon that has backward and even outdated views on pornography.
While others are happy that a religious person and a star from the world of entertainment are taking a more serious stance against pornography.
