Naya Rivera Talks About Tough Issues

Before Naya Married Ryan Dorsey back in 2014 and had their son Josey the very next year, The Glee actress has decided to write a memoir about her life. After living through many different ups and downs.

Rivera promised fans many stories about her personal life, life on the set of Glee, growing up and more. The 29-year-old feels like she has been through it all.

After Dorsey and Rivera had their son, Rivera experience a pregnancy that was unplanned and decide not to let Ryan know. Eventually getting an abortion on a day off from filming the show Glee.

The actress was very scared to open up to the public in an interview with People magazine. However, Naya thought that someone might get something from her story.

In her book, Rivera talks about her struggles in her relationship with Ryan and how the abortion impacted her life. She also touches on the eating disorder she had when she was young – anorexia. She just hopes to help girls that are suffering like she used to.

The name Naya has many origins. In Spanish it comes from a river in Colombia. In Danish, it is a version of Naja – a nickname for Anastazija or Anastasia, which comes from the Greek name Anastasios meaning “resurrection”. In African American, it is a respelling of Nia that means “purpose” in Swahili. All of these meanings, from purpose to resurrection, are suitable for the actress – Naya Rivera.
