In a sneak peek of the show “Dancing with the Stars,” Maureen McCormick was shown dancing with her TV mom – Florence Henderson. McCormick is partnered with Artem Chigvintsev, who is a dance pro, for season 23 of the show.
The preview clip from the ABC competition series shows McCormick, 60, who was lucky to have a rehearsal with Henderson, 82. Both McCormick (Marcia) and Henderson (Carol Brady) are from the Brady Bunch, which is a sitcom from the 1970s. The two danced to the theme song from their old show.
In fact, Henderson had competed on season 11 of Dancing with the stars, placing in eighth. She offered advice to McCormick before she signed on, full of support and encouragement to just dance! McCormick had a lot of fear about going on the show but looks forward to whatever happens.
The feminine name Maureen is an Anglicized version of Máirín, which is the Irish diminutive of Mary. Mary is the English form of Maria, which is the Latin version taken from the New Testament, derived from the Greek names Maria and Mariam. These Greek names were ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Miryam, which was given to the sister of Moses from the Old Testament.
The meaning of the name is not known for certain, however, there are several theories from “rebelliousness”, "wished for child" to the “sea of bitterness”. However, it was probably taken from an Egyptian name that was derived from the name mry meaning “beloved” or mr meaning “love”.
