Massimo De Carlo – Italian Gallerist

With galleries in London and Milan, Massimo De Carlo is celebrating 30 years in the business by starting a gallery in Hong Kong. For many years, he has served on the selection committee for the Art Basel Hong Kong and has even shown at the fair since back in 2013. In fact, he is already getting great feedback from the market in the Far East. In 2017, he will open the doors to the new space in March with a show of paintings by Yan Pei-Ming.

De Carlo’s reputation in Milan was cemented after he participated in the Felix-Gonzalez-Torres show, besides the many other consecutive shows located at Andrea Rosen in New York and at Hauser & Wirth in London. In fact, he has also been a champion of Maurizio Cattelan the artist-showman who recently came out of retirement. All this despite the fact that he was recently “taped to the wall’ by Cattelan. In 2016, De Carlo was named one of the year’s most influential people in the contemporary art world by ArtReview magazine.
