Tons of young thespians look to Mark Rylance as an inspiration and muse. He is a “legend” on the stage, from the “Twelfth Night” to “Boeing-Boeing,” he has made a name in both contemporary and classical theater.
The British actor has been in many films, including “Institute benjamenta,” “Prospero’s Books,” and “Angels and Insects.” Not to mention he was the first ever artistic director in London for Shakespeare’s Globe from 1995 to 2005. Plus, he won the BAFTA and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in “Bridge of Spies,” as the character Rudolf Abel. He has also won two Olivier Awards, three Tony Awards, and an Oscar. Rylance accepted the awards with humility and gratitude, as this man was born to act.
Recently, he worked with Steven Spielberg in a live-action film adaptation of “The BFG” a children’s book by Roald Dahl. In the next couple years, he will be in Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk” and Spielberg’s film “Ready Player One”.
To top it all off, Rylance is a supporter of the London-based charity Peace First that support peace-builders in conflict areas and the Stop the War Coalition in Britain. In 2016, he was named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine.
