At the young age of 28 years old, the UFC fighter Josh Samman has passed away after a week in a coma in hospital. His manager, Gary Ibarra, stated that the fighter’s family is requesting privacy and will release a statement soon.
Samman was discovered in his apartment by a friend, along with his friend and roommate Troy Kirkingburg. Despite calling 911 and performing CPR his friend could not revive Kirkingburg. Samman was unresponsive and taken to the hospital.
A statement by Samman’s mother was released on FOX Sports stating that no heroin was discovered in his system and the online rumors were wrong – it was not a drug overdose.
Joshua Kaleb “Josh” Samman started his career in the UFC as part of Jon Jones’ team during the 17th season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. He won his first three fights, which included a back-to-back “Performance of the Night” victories over Calo Magalhaes and Eddie Gordon.
