Of all the players who made the first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, only one is still waiting to sign the rookie deal. Joey Bosa, who was the #3 pick of the San Diego Chargers, was picked straight out of Ohio State University. However, due to language barriers and cash flow issues, the contract remains unsigned and the issue has reached at a stalemate.
Negotiations have come to a standstill, and this has Bosa’s Mother taking the issue to Facebook. Talking about how her son should have “Pulled an Eli Manning.” She is referring to the statement that Eli Manning’s father made – that his son did not wish to play for the San Diego Chargers.
Although the comment has gone viral and gained media attention, not much will change. At this point in time, do not expect to see Bosa at the game Saturday against the Tennessee Titans.
The name Joey is a diminutive of Joseph, which is from Ioseph the Latin word for the Greek name Ιωσηφ. Originally taken from the Hebrew name Yosef, which means “he will add”. Maybe the San Diego Chargers need to take this into account, as Bosa could add to the team in many ways!
The name Joseph has been popular for ages as a Jewish name, from the Old Testament to the Middle Ages. Late in the Middle Ages, people started to revere Saint Joseph and the name started to become popular around the world.
