J.K. Rowling Picks Actor for Dumbledore

Joanne "Jo" Rowling knew right where to find her new Dumbledore for the new film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. The new Harry Potter sequel will have a young Albus Dumbledore making an appearance in the movie and the author has already picked an actor.

It will be a tough role to follow, as Michael Gambon’s performance was iconic in the previous Harry Potter movies. However, Rowling believes that she has the perfect replacement in mind for Gambon but would not reveal who it was to E! News.

Rowling will not reveal who she has in mind to play Dumbledore in case the person does not get cast. It’s better to keep quiet rather than getting blamed for something that may or may not happen, stated Rowling.

On the up side, Rowling has implied that the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald, who is played by Johnny Depp, will be in the upcoming movie. She will not reveal everything, as the five-part story has so much to unveil, she does not want to ruin it. However, she did state that Dumbledore is gay and is open about his sexuality.

The name Joan is the medieval English version of Johanne, which is the Old French form of Iohanna. Similarly, the name Johanne is the Norwegian, French and Danish version of Iohanna.
