This year at the 8th Annual Governors Awards in November, the Academy has an honorary Oscar for the martial arts movie star Jackie Chan. Recently, the Board of Governors voted to give the award to a few notable people. Besides Chan, Frederick Wiseman the documentary filmmaker, Anne V. Coates the film editor and Lynn Stalmaster a casting director will also receive an award.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science will honor Chan for his “distinctive international career.” Chan has starred in over 30 martial arts features, as well as directing, writing and producing films. The star has been in movies since the age of 8 and charming people with his amazing athleticism, stunt work and charisma.
Some of his greatest works include, “Rush Hour,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “Shanghai Noon,” “Around the World in 80 Days” and “Rumble in the Bronx.”
Chan took to social media to post that he is grateful to be the first Chinese actor to be given the honor, while he is still young.
