Ibrahim Dankwambo – Nigerian Politician

As the governor of Gombe State in Nigeria, Ibrahim Dankwambo was part of the “change” mantra that was present throughout the North during the previous general election. He ran on the People’s Democratic Party platform and managed to win a second term.

 

Dankwambo was born and raised in Gombe and obtained a degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University. He then went on to obtain a Masters of Science in Economics from the University of Lagos and a Ph.D. in Accounting from Igbinedion University.

 

He started his career with the firm Coopers & Lybrand and also worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Then he was appointed as the Accountant General of Gombe State and moved on to be the accountant for the General of the Federation before going into politics.

 

During his time in politics, his biggest accomplishments are in education, road construction, water supply and infrastructure. In 2016, Dankwambo was named one of the 100 most influential people in Nigeria by Y! Or Ynaija.com.
