About two years ago, a college student from Virginia was supposed to audition for the TV show “The Voice” but the opportunity was taken away by the disease Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, Danielle El-Jor recently got the opportunity to meet up with two country music stars – Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks.
El-Jor was lucky enough to win a “meet and greet” with both Trisha and Garth through a contest on a local radio station. That's when she revealed that she was a big Carrie Underwood fan.
After Brooks heard her amazing story, he invited El-Jor to come to a sound check and sing with him for awhile. She was absolutely thrilled to have some time with this amazing country legend in the studio.
Troyal Garth Brooks received his name from his father – Troyal Raymond Brooks, Jr. The given name Troyal is very rare and the meaning is unknown. However, his middle name Garth is taken from a surname that in Old Norse means “garden”. While others believe that the name Garth is derived from the Welsh name Gareth, which also has an uncertain meaning.
While the name Troyal is not common, the name Garth is used by many notable people, from Garth Christian an English nature writer to Garth Hudson the Canadian organist from the rock group “The Band”. There are also many fictional characters with the name Garth, like Garth of Izar, or Lord Garth, who is the “Master of the Universe” from Star Trek.
