Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones will be in a new Star Wars movie with Alden Ehrenreich, who is playing Han Solo, and Donald Glover, who is set to play Lando Calrissian. The British actress is ready to change it up, from dragons to intergalactic space adventures.
The “yet-to-be-named” film will be a Han Solo spin-off and takes place before the movie “Star Wars: A New Hope”. The film will look at the formative years of Calrissian and Solo as they learn the ropes at being space smugglers or - “scoundrels on the rise” according to Lucasfilm.
Before Clarke accepted the role as the female lead, there were rumors that Naomi Scott, Tessa Thompson and Zoe Kravitz were being considered. In fact, even her fellow actor in Game of Thrones, Jessica Henwick, was in the running for awhile.
The film is scheduled to begin filming next year and will be in theaters by May 2018.
