Eddie Murphy is Amazing in “Mr. Church”

The star, Eddie Murphy, who we know and love from comedies and action films that are packed full of cockiness, charisma and contagious laughter, is at it again. However, the actor is nothing like his usually witty and charming self, the warm-hearted and hokey “Mr. Church,” is completely different.

The drama focuses on serious acting and Murphy is up to the challenge. Henry Church is enlisted to cook for a family, however, it's just a temporary gig. The mother is dying and the daughter dislikes Mr. Church and his ‘’fancy grits,” which are filled with secrets.

The mother ends up surviving for six years, well past the six months doctors predicted. However, it's still not long enough for her to see her daughter go to prom or come to love Mr. Church. Throughout the show, Murphy cooks to his beloved jazz music and makes stunning observations about the families situation. The performance given by Murphy is low-key, but it is loaded with caring and loving moments.
