From trick riding to gun spinning, Denzel Washington looks good riding high in a saddle – that’s because he's the new John Wayne. However, times have changed since the good old West, and Washington is a good guy with a bad past. He even has the resume to prove it, from a drug kingpin to a corrupt cop.
Washington can now be seen in “The Magnificent Seven,” which is a remake of a remake. The movie originated as a film in 1960, that revolved around a group of hired guns to protect a Mexican village. Then it was redone by Akira Kurosawa called “Seven Samurai,” and was released as the “Magnificent Seven," in the United States.
Now the film is being redone by Antoine Fuqua, with another group of seven - riding and shooting. The movie follows the film from the 1960s, with some interesting tweaks and contemporary additions, like the gun-handling frontierswoman Emma. She ends up hiring Washington and some others to clean up her town of a trigger happy dandy and his gang, who are terrorizing the people.

Much like the name, Denzel Washington, Jr., was named after his father, Denzel Hayes Washington, Sr., who was an ordained Pentecostal minister.
There are many notable people with the given name, from Denzel Bowles the American basketball player to Denzel Curry the Florida-based rapper.
