The Canadian Golfer, Dawn Coe-Jones, who is in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame has died from Cancer. She was only 56-years-old and had helped “blaze a trail” for other Canadian women who wanted to golf on the pro tour.
According to Golf Canada, Coe-Jones passed away close to her home at a hospice in Tampa, FL. She will be missed by her fans, friends, and family.
Coe-Jones is orginally from Lake Cowichan, BC, and was a part of the LPGA Tour from the years 1984 - 2008. In fact, she had won over $3.3 million US dollars while golfing on the circuit. She had three victories and over 40 top-ten finishes in her career.
Many Canadian golfers went on social media to honor Coe-Jones and share messages, from David Hearn to Mike Weir. A.J. Eathorne a former LPGA Tour pro from Penticton, BC, even posted some photographs on Instagram of Coe-Jones.
Coe-Jones was totally surprised when she was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame back in 2003. He last appearance on the circuit was in 2008.
The feminine name Dawn is from the English word dawn, which means “the first appearance of light” or “daybreak”. The name is ultimately taken from the Old English word dagung.
