As a Spanish bullfighter, Conchi Reyes Rios is one of four female matadors in Spain today, among the 820 bullfighters that are there. In 2011, she was the very first woman to remove the ears from a bull.
Rios was born and raised in the Region of Murcia. She found a passion for bullfighting at a the young age of 15 when her grandfather took her to the local bull ring. After seeing a calf she showed only interest and no fear. In 2007, she made her debut as a bullfighter as a public arena.
In 2009, she was a picador for Luis Miguel Casares. Then, in 2011, she went to Las Ventas located in Madrid alongside of Jimenez Fortes, Simon Lopez, and Jose Cruz. In 2015, she was featured as one of the six female bullfighters on a Spanish national list.
In 2016, she appeared along with the veteran bullfighter Antonio Puerta and El Cordobes in Cehegin located in Murcia. In the same year, BBC named Rios one of the most inspirational and influential women in the world. She stated that she believes in equality for both men and women and will fight for the privilege to do what she wants in life, just like anyone else in this world, male or female.
