Bruno Mars brought something different to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend when he played a brand new song. During his second interlude, Bruno performed a new track called “Chunky,” that is exactly what fans expected.
Earlier in the show, he kicked things off with his title track, “24K Magic,” from his latest album that had just come out last week with a new music video.
After the show, he went on Instagram to say thank you to NBC for his awesome return to the stage at SNL. This will be the fourth time that he has been a part of the sketch comedy show as a musical guest. However, back in 2012, he did double duty on the show as both the host and musical guest.
This year he joined Emily Blunt, who is the star of “The Girl on the Train,” Margot Robbie from “Suicide Squad” and Lin-Manuel Miranda from “Hamilton” on this episode.
Bruno Mars was born Peter Gene Hernandez named after his father Peter Hernandez. He was nicknamed “Bruno” by his father, after his resemblance to Bruno Sammartino the professional wrestler. He took the stage name Mars because he wanted to have some “pizzazz,” and some girls say that he is “out of this world,” so he was like the planet Mars works.
The name Peter is derived from the Greek Petros that means “stone”. While the name Bruno is taken from the Germanic element brun meaning “armour or protection,” or “brown”.
