Bjarke Ingels Architectural Artist

The architect, Bjarke Ingels, is simultaneously bringing back elements of the past while incorporating his own unique typology in his buildings. He is the first big architect that has thrown out the old and dated thinking of the past, that everyone must earn their own utopia, and embraced a new modern type of thinking – closer to Silicon Valley.

Ingels is attempting to make the world a better place one building at a time. His unique creations defy both traditional architecture and dimensions, from snowflakes to mountains. Not to mention all the incredible ideas for sustainable development and his many sociological concepts.

Growing up in Denmark he learned to appreciate the natural landscape and incorporates many of his concepts into the surroundings. He does so using sloped lines that match the area to create amazing works of art that are environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing.

Over the years, he has won many architectural competitions. On top of that, he has been named the Innovator of the year for architecture by the Wall Street Journal back in 2011. Then, in 2016, Ingels was named one of the top 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

The masculine name Bjarke is the Danish diminutive of Bjørn, which is the Norwegian and Danish version of Björn. The masculine name Björn is taken from the Old Norse byname that means “bear”. The name became popular after it was used in tales of “Hrólf Kraki,” given to the hero Bödvar Bjarki, whose name means “Warlike Little-Bear”.
