Amy Poehler Wins An Emmy

Date 2016-09-12

Amy Poehler was well-known for holding “Emmy losers parties,” after being nominated 18 times but never winning. However, that changed when she nabbed an Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmys.

The star is from “Parks and Recreation” as an actor, producer and writer. On top of that, fans know her from her comedy series with Tina Fey and the shared award nomination – outstanding guest actress on “Saturday Night Live.”

Before winning an Emmy, Poehler was like Susan Lucci of the Primetime Emmy’s – as this actress was nominated 19 times before winning for her role in “All My Children.”

Back in 2013, Jon Hamm of “Mad Men” and Poehler threw an Emmy party for losers in the lounge after the Awards ceremony. In fact, Emmy winners had to make a donation to attend the party. They raised close to $20,000 for the Worldwide Orphans fund.

The feminine name Amy is a English version of the Old French name Amee, which means “beloved.” The name is a vernacular version of Amata from Latin. The name was used during the Middle Ages as an English name, but it did not become common until the 19th century when it was revived.

There are tons of notable people with the name Amy, from the American actress Amy Acker to the political activist Amy Carter. The name is also a popular fictional name for characters, like Amy Dunne from Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn or Amy MacDougall from the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
