Aisha Buhari is the wife of the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who defeated the former President Goodluck Jonathan back in 2015. The first lady is known for speaking her mind, which is uncommon for a woman in Nigeria.


In fact, in an interview with the BBC Hausa language service, she was a bit critical of her own husband’s politics. For this, she was immediately dismissed by the president as he claimed that she belonged to “the other room”. However, Mrs. Buhari is stronger than many think she is and didn’t kept quiet, from talking about the underprivileged to raising money for the victims of Boko Haram’s insurgency.


Aisha was born in Adamawa State located in Northeastern Nigeria. At the moment, she is taking Counselling courses on Co-Dependency in the UK.


Not to mention the fact that she also has a diploma in Beauty Therapy from the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy. Specializing in mesotherapy, microdermabrasion, and permanent make-up. Buhari also has a post-graduate diploma in cosmetology and beauty from the Academy Esthetique Beauty Institute of France.


The feminine name Aisha is African-American and means “life” or “she lives”. The name is also a common Arabic name and means “alive”. It was even the name of one of Muhammad’s wives, who was the daughter of Abu Bakr.
