Koichi Tabuchi: a former Japanese baseball player, manager, and commentator.The Hanshin Tigers named Tabuchi as their first draft choice in 1969 and he joined the team that year. In 1979 he moved to the Seibu Lions, and the team won the Japan Series that year and the next. After his 1984 retirement, he managed the Daiei Hawks and coached the Tigers. From 1985 to 1989, again from 1993 to 2001, and again beginning in 2004 he has been a commentator for Tokyo Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS). Tabuchi is the head batting coach of the Japan national baseball team.

Koichi Nakano: a former professional racing cyclist and ten time World Champion track racing cyclist. He is amongst the best track sprinter of modern times and won an unprecedented ten consecutive Professional Sprint gold medals at the UCI Track World Championships from 1977 to 1986, (at that time, many sprint riders were from from the Eastern bloc countries and had to compete in separate "amateur" events), and was one of the most successful competitors of all-time on the Japan Professional Keirin circuit.

Koichi Hagiuda: a Japanese politician, currently representing the 24th district (Hachioji) of Tokyo in the House of Representatives of Japan as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. He currently heads the Youth Division of the LDP.While still a university student, Hagiuda began working as an aide to Ryuichi Kurosu, the current mayor of Hachioji. In 1991, at the age of 27, he won a seat in the Hachioji City Assembly, becoming the youngest candidate ever to do so. He then ran successfully for a seat in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly in 2002, serving part of one term. In 2004, he ran for a seat in the House of Representatives of Japan, which he won. Hagiuda then won re-election in the 2005 general election by a large margin.

Koichi Hirata: a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Yokkaichi, Mie and graduate of Keio University, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1995 as an independent. After losing his seat in 2000, he was re-elected in 2003.
