Iwao Hakamada: a former Japanese professional boxer who was sentenced to death for the June 10, 1966 mass murder. Supreme court upheld his death sentence on November 19, 1980. However, he was suspected for being falsely charged. The physical evidence was changed from pajamas to clothes[1] and the clothes did not fit him.[2] Although he remains on death row, he has not been executed until now (Japan sometimes hasn't executed suspected innocent prisoners such as Sadamichi Hirasawa). As of 2008[update], he has been in prison for 42 years, the longest imprisonment in current Japanese condemned prisoners.

Iwao Matsuda: a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Gifu, Gifu and graduate of the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in 1960, attending the University of London while in the ministry. Leaving the ministry in 1981, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1986. After losing his seat in 1996, he was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 1998.
