Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha: was a Sikh scholar and encyclopedist, born in a Dhillon Jatt family at the village of Sabaz Banera, in what then used to be the territory of the princely ruler of patiala. His father was Narain Singh and mother Har Kaur. Narain Singh was a man of saintly character and he succeeded to the charge of Gurdwara Dera Baba Ajaypal Singh at Nabha, after the death of his grandfather Sarup Singh in 1861. Kahn Singh was the eldest of three brothers(the other two being Bhai Meehan singh and Bhai Bishan singh) and one sister(Bibi Kahn kaur). He did not attend any school or college for formal education, yet he mastered several branches of learning by his own effort. He even had the knowledge of using the most complicated weapons.In 1885 at Nabha, Mr.Macauliffe, the famous historian met him and took his help in studying Gurbani and sikh-history for his book "The Sikh Relegion

Phra Bat Somdet Phra Poramenthramaha Isarasundhorn: was the second monarch of Siam under the House of Chakri, ruling from 1809-1824. In 1809, Isarasundhorn succeeded his father Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, the founder of Chakri dynasty, as Buddha Loetla Nabhalai the King of Siam. His reign was largely peaceful, devoid of major conflicts. His reign was known as the "Golden Age of Rattanakosin Literature" as Buddha Loetla Nabhalai was patron to a number of poets in his court and the King himself was a renowned poet and artist. The most notable poet in his employ was the illustrious Sunthorn Phu, the author of Phra Aphai Mani.

Gary Paul Nabhan: A first generation Lebanese-American, Nabhan was raised in Gary, Indiana. He served as Director of Science at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and co-founded Native Seeds/SEARCH, a nonprofit conservation organization that works to preserve indigenous southwestern agricultural plants as well as knowledge of their uses. Nabhan was the founding director of the Center for Sustainable Environments at Northern Arizona University. In 2008 he joined the University of Arizona faculty as a Research Social Scientist with the Southwest Center.Among his books are The Desert Smells Like Rain, Cultures of Habitat, Why Some Like It Hot: Food, Genes, and Cultural Diversity, Enduring Seeds: Native American Agriculture and Wild Plant Conservation, Cross-pollinations: The Marriage of Science and Poetry, Coming Home to Eat: The Pleasures and Politics of Local Foods, and Gathering the Desert, which won the John Burroughs Medal for distinguished natural history writing. He was also the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.
