Zacharias Papantoniou: was born in Karpenissi of Evrytania in February 1877 and died in Athens in 1940. He spent the first years of his life in Granitsa, where his father was a teacher. Apart from a writer, he was also a journalist. Papantoniou's work was basically the first to promote Evrytania. A big part of his work hasn't been published.[citation needed]

Zacharias Ursinus: was a sixteenth century German Reformed theologian, born Zacharias Baer in Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland). He became the leading theologian of the Reformed Protestant movement of the Palatinate, serving both at the University of Heidelberg and the College of Wisdom (Collegium Sapientiae). He is best known as the principal author and interpreter of the Heidelberg Catechism.[1]

Zacharias (Zachris, Sakari) Topelius: was a Swedish-speaking Finnish journalist, historian and author who wrote Finnish historical novels in Swedish.The original name of the Topelius family was the Finnish name Toppila which had been Latinized to Toppelius by the author's grand father's grand father and later changed to Topelius. Zacharias Topelius was born at Kuddnäs, near Nykarleby in Ostrobothnia, the son of a physician of the same name (Zacharias Topelius the Elder), who was distinguished as the earliest collector of Finnish folk-songs. As a child he heard his mother, Katarina Sofia Calamnius, sing the songs of the Finland-Swedish poet Franzén. At the age of eleven, he was sent to school in Oulu and boarded with relatives in the possession of a lending library, where he nurtured his fantasy with the reading of novels.

Zacharias Johannes (Zach) De Beer            Origin/Culture/Country: African

Zacharias Johannes (Zach) De Beer: was a liberal Afrikaner South African politician and businessman. He was the last leader of the liberal Progressive Federal Party and then the co-leader of the new liberal Democratic Party.[1]A medical doctor by profession, De Beer was first elected to the House of Assembly in 1953 as an MP for the opposition United Party. On the party's left wing, he and fellow MP Helen Suzman, Colin Eglin, Ray Swart, Harry Lawrence and Dr Jan Steytler resigned from the party after its national congress voted against returning any further land to the black majority for their occupation and use. He and the other liberal MPs formed the new Progressive Party in 1959. De Beer lost his seat in the 1961 general election and joined an advertising agency before moving on the Anglo-American. In the 1977 general election, he was returned to Parliament as an MP for what had become the Progressive Federal Party which had been formed that year through a merger of the Progressive Party and various other liberal groups of MPs.[1] He became the PFP's leader in 1987 and, with Denis Worrall and Wynand Malan was a co-leader of the new Democratic Party when it formed in 1989.
