Antje Boetius: is a German marine biologist presently serving as professor of geomicrobiology at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology, University of Bremen.[1] She received the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize, with 2.5 million euros in funding, in March 2009 for her study of sea bed microorganisms that affect the global climate.[2] She was the first person to describe anaerobic oxidation of methane,[2] and believes the earth's earliest life forms may have subsisted on methane in the absence of molecular oxygen (instead reducing oxygen-containing compounds such as nitrate or sulfate).[3] She has also suggested such life forms may be able to reduce the rate of climate change in future.[3]

Antje Gleichfeld: is a German middle distance runner who specialized in the 800 metres. She finished fifth at the Olympic Games in 1960 and 1964. She won the bronze medal at the 1966 European Championships. At the 1969 European Championships she won a bronze medal in 4 x 400 metres relay, together with teammates Christa Czekay, Inge Eckhoff and Christel Frese. She also won three medals at the Universiade; a gold in 1961 and silver medals in 1963 and 1965.[1]

Antje Zöllkau: is a retired javelin thrower who represented East Germany. She won the silver medals at the 1981 European Junior Championships and the 1982 European Championships. She then competed at the 1983 World Championships, finishing eleventh. Her personal best throw was 72.16 metres with the old javelin type, achieved in May 1984 in Celje. This ranks her second among German javelin throwers, only behind Petra Felke (who held the world record with the old javelin type).[2]
