Séraphin Couvreur: was a French Jesuit missionary to China, sinologist and creator of the EFEO Chinese transcription in 1902. The system devised by Couvreur of the École française d'Extrême-Orient was used in most of the French-speaking world to transliterate Chinese until the middle of the 20th century, after what it was gradually replaced by hanyu pinyin.

Séraphin Cherrier: was a merchant and political figure in Lower Canada. He represented Richelieu in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1815 to 1820. He practised medicine at Saint-Denis where he was also in business. Cherrier was choirmaster there from 1813 to 1819. In 1785, he married Marie-Louise Loubet. Cherrier was elected to the assembly in an 1815 by-election held after the results of the 1814 election were declared invalid. He did not run for reelection in 1820. He died at Saint-Denis at the age of 80.

Oliver James "O. J." Seraphin: was the Prime Minister of Dominica from June 25, 1979, until July 21, 1980. Seraphin returned to government, in the position of Prime Minister, on June 25, upon request from the "Committee of National Salvation." Hurricane David, which hit Dominica in August 1979, killed 56 people, and devastated the island, would weaken his government, and he became preoccupied with rescue and rebuilding efforts. Seraphin traveled to Barbados, Canada, France, the United States, and Venezuela to seek financial aid for rebuilding his county's infrastructure. He was succeeded by Eugenia Charles, who would lead Dominica for the next 15 years, and hasn't returned to politics since. Her party, the Dominica Freedom Party, defeated his, the Democratic Labour Party (which soon faded from the political scene), by a large margin in the 1980 election.
