Jamaal Dane Magloire: is a Canadian professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA), currently on the Dallas Mavericks. The 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m), 265 lb (120 kg/18.9 st) center was selected out of the University of Kentucky by the Charlotte Hornets with the 19th overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, after withdrawing his name from the previous draft. He was voted into the NBA All-Star Game once. He attended high school at Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute in Toronto, and has previously played for the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, and New Jersey Nets.

Paul Eugène Magloire: was a Haïtian military ruler from 1950 to 1956.Paul Magloire was born a general's son. In 1946 he participated in a successful coup against the president, Élie Lescot. When his successor, President Dumarsais Estimé tried to extend his term of office in 1950, Magloire ousted him with the help of a local elite and retook power.
