Amable Dionne: was a businessman, seigneur and political figure in Lower Canada and Canada East.He became a clerk for Pierre Casgrain, a merchant at Rivière-Ouelle, and, in 1811, was made a partner in the business. In the same year, he married Catherine Perreault, the niece and daughter by adoption of the local seigneur, Jacques-Nicolas Perrault. In 1818, he established his own business. Dionne served in the local militia, reaching the rank of major. He purchased the seigneuries of La Pocatière and Grande-Anse during the 1830s. In 1830, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Kamouraska; he was reelected in 1834. He supported the Ninety-Two Resolutions but did not support the rebellion that followed. Dionne was named to the Legislative Council in 1837 and then served as a member of the Special Council after the suspension of the constitution.

Amable Berthelot: was a Quebec lawyer, author and political figure.He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada in 1814 for Trois-Rivières. He closed his office in 1820 and lived in France until 1824 when he returned to Lower Canada. He was elected again for Trois-Rivières in that year as a member of the Parti canadien. He left for France again in 1831 and returned to Quebec City in 1834. Because he sold his books before departing for France, his personal library was known to consist of almost fifteen hundred volumes. He was elected to represent Quebec City's Upper Town in the legislative assembly and served until 1838. After the union of Upper and Lower Canada, he represented Kamouraska in the Legislative Assembly from 1841 until his death at Quebec City in 1847.

Amable Jodoin: was a businessman and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chambly in the Canadian House of Commons from 1874 to 1875 as a Liberal member.His election to the House of Commons in 1874 was overturned; he won the by-election which followed in 1875 but that election was again appealed; Pierre Basile Benoit won the by-election held in 1876.

Amable Éno, Dit Deschamps: was a political figure in Quebec. He represented L'Assomption from 1830 to 1834 in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada as a supporter of the Parti patriote. His name also appears as Amable Deschamps. He served as an officer in the militia, reaching the rank of lieutenant-colonel, and also was justice of the peace. Amable Éno, dit Deschamps voted in support of the Ninety-Two Resolutions. He was defeated by Jean-Baptiste Meilleur when he ran for reelection in 1834. He died in Repentigny at the age of 90.

Amable Guillaume Prosper Brugière, Baron De Barant: was a French statesman and historian. the son of an advocate. At the age of sixteen he entered the École Polytechnique at Paris, and at twenty obtained his first appointment in the civil service. His abilities secured him rapid promotion, and in 1806 he obtained the post of auditor to the council of state. After being employed in several political missions in Germany, Poland, and Spain, during the next two years, he became prefect of Vendée.
