Akseli Gallen-Kallela: was a Finnish painter who is best known for his illustrations of the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic (illustration, below). His work was considered very important for the Finnish national identity.Gallen-Kallela was born Axél Waldemar Gallén in Pori (in Swedish Björneborg), Finland. His father Peter Gallén worked as police chief and lawyer.[1] At the age of 11 he was sent to Helsinki to study at a grammar school, because his father opposed his ambition to become a painter. After his father's death in 1879, Gallen-Kallela attended drawing classes at the Finnish Art Society.

Akseli Ensio "Axu" Kokkonen: is a Norwegian ski-jumper. He was born to Kari and Anneli Kokkonen in Oslo, Norway, and is the younger brother of Elmeri Kokkonen. He had Finnish nationality and spent most of his childhood in Finland. In 2006 Kokkonen was taken out of the Finnish national team due to an injury and bad performances. He was not allowed to jump in any World Cup competition and just competed in a few Continental and FIS Cup competitions.
