Gaspard Corrette: was a French composer and organist. He was born around 1671, probably in Rouen where he was organist for the church of St-Herbland. In approximately 1720 he moved to Paris. Little is known of his life; only by one quotation in a list of professors considered in Paris, and a single collection of suites for one and two harpsichords which appeared in 1705: it is one of the pinnacles of music for this instrument. His work falls under the French tradition between those of d'Anglebert and Couperin.
