That same year he won the ski jumping competition at the Holmenkollen ski festival, which also earned him the Holmenkollen medal (Shared with Eero Mäntyranta, Georg Thoma, and Halvor Næs). The main character in Havukka-ahon Ajattelija, Konsta Pylkkänen, has since become ingrained into Finnish modern folklore as the archetype of a rustic, backwoods philosopher.
