Anker Boye: is a Danish politician representing the Social Democratic Party. He is a painter by profession. In the municipality-election the 17th November 2009 Anker Boye reclaimed his former post as mayor of Odense, by winning the municipality election. The coalition made of Enhedslisten, Socialistisk Folkeparti and the Socialdemocrats won 17 out of 29 seats in the city counsel, thereby winning the majority.

Anker Jørgensen: is a former Danish Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He led or represented the Social Democratic Party for well over 30 years. Whilst he was chairman of the Danish Workers Union, he was elected to the Parliament of Denmark for the first of many times in 1964.

He is also designing the Postverk Føroya web site, that will become a portal about the Faroes, and has illustrated many books. As a writer, he translates texts from Old Norse, and writes children's carols and lyrics for Faroese singers.

Anker Dolleris Engelund: was a Danish civil engineer and university professor. He became rector of the technical university (1941–1959), during the period of the university's expansion at Østervold. Despite restricted admissions, the university still did not have sufficient space and Engelund was responsible for developing plans for further expansion. This resulted in a decision in 1958 to move the university to Lyngby. Anker Engelunds Vej at the university Lyngby campus is named after him. Engelund developed the idea of creating the Danish Ingeniørakademi - The Engineering Academy, where there would be less emphasis on the theoretical aspects of engineering, and shorter courses. He was responsible for setting up a Danish inspection body to inspect welds in load-bearing structures and pressure vessels (1940).

He was stationed in six different countries, but with side responsibilities for other countries, he was an ambassador in fifteen different countries during his career (with Austria counted twice). He was an attaché at the Norwegian legation in Paris before returning to Norway as a secretary in 1929. He worked for the League of Nations before World War II, being hired as a secretary in 1931. He was a secretary in the observatory commission in Alexandrette from 1936 to 1937, the later Hatay State. He became ambassador to Greece in 1960 before succeeding Ivar Lunde as ambassador to Turkey in 1962. The position also covered Iraq, and from 1965 Kuwait. From 1966 to 1973 he was the ambassador to Egypt/the United Arab Republic. The position also covered Sudan and Ethiopia from 1967, Lebanon from 1968 and Jordan from 1969.

Carsten Tank Anker: was a Norwegian businessman, civil servant, politician and one of the Fathers of the Constitution of Norway. He was the owner of the manor house in Akershus at which the original National Assembly (Riksforsamlingen) of Norway was held. The manor house has since then been given the name Eidsvollsbygningen. He was given the, mostly honorary, titles of etatsråd and konferensråd in 1779 and 1784 respectively, and on 14 January 1779 he was also made a member of the nobility. When Bjærgværksdirektoiret was dissolved by royal resolution on 28 January 1791, Anker was given a pension, but kept a position as first director of the so-called Realisations-Kommission (Realisation Committee). This position entailed among other things special responsibility for the government’s Norwegian glassmaking companies. In 1792 he was made first director of det dansk-asiatiske Kompagni (the Danish-Asian Company), a position he kept until 1811. He also acquired considerable property in Norway by buying the historic Eidsvoll Ironworks (Eidsvoll Verk).
