John Wesley Fry: was a politician in Alberta, Canada and a mayor of Edmonton. John Wesley Fry sought office eleven times in his political career, and was never defeated. His first attempt took place in the 1932 election, when he ran for the position of alderman on Edmonton City Council. He was elected, finishing second of fifteen candidates. He was re-elected in the 1934 and 1936 elections, finishing second each time (of eighteen and sixteen candidates, respectively). Fry resigned midway through his third two year term to run for mayor in the 1937 election, challenging incumbent Joseph Clarke. He defeated Clarke by three thousand votes, and would go on to be re-elected in 1938 (defeating three challengers, including Clarke), 1939 (defeating local member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta Samuel Barnes), 1940 (defeating two challengers), 1941 (defeating alderman George Campbell), 1942 (by acclamation), 1943 (defeating Thomas Cairns), and 1944 (defeating Rice Sheppard). He did not seek re-election in the 1945 election, and did not seek political office again thereafter.

Hedy Fry: is a Canadian politician and physician. She is the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre. Fry sought and won the Liberal Party nomination for Vancouver Centre for the 1993 federal election over lawyer David Varty and college lecturer John Lang in March 1993. She was elected to the Canadian House of Commons, defeating Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Kim Campbell. Fry was only the fifth person to unseat a sitting prime minister, and the first to do so on his or her first try for office. Fry has been re-elected in every subsequent election (1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2011). In 2006, she beat high profile NDP activist and former MP Svend Robinson and in 2008 she defeated high profile Conservative Lorne Mayencourt. Fry was re-elected in 2011 by a margin of approximately 2,000 votes. She served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Health and Welfare from 1993 until 1996 when she was appointed to the Cabinet as Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Status of Women.

Henry Fry: was an English-born merchant, miner and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Cowichan in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1887 to 1890. From 1864 to 1869, he operated a business in Victoria. He then purchased a farm in the Cowichan Valley. Fry was elected to the assembly in an 1887 by-election held following the death of William Smithe.
