Zdenek Kopal: was a Czech-born astronomer who directed an international project, financed by the U.S. Air Force, to photograph and map the entire surface of the Moon by using the refracting telescope at the Pic du Midi Observatory in southern France.In July 1914, the First World War broke out and Professor Kopal enlisted into the army. His wife Ludmila Kopalová, together with their sons Zdenek and their first born Miloš, went to live with her father Josef Lelek in Jicín. The teacher Josef Lelek had a strong personality, in which were epitomised all the positive aspects of Czech teachers of the second half of the 19th and first half of the 20th century, who, aside from their pedagogical activities, were strongly and entirely selflessly influenced by local cultural life and science and were enriched by their basic knowledge, usually their relationship to the local town where they worked. This was the case with Kopal's grandfather, doubtlessly thanks to whom the young grammar school pupil Zdenek was able to grasp scientific methods,

Zdenek Kovár: renown Czech industrial designer.He trained as a shoemaker in Bata’s Zlín factory, then as locksmith and later as engineer. He studied under prominent Czech sculptor Vincenc Makovský at Zlín’s Art School from 1939 where he became interested in industrial design. He graduated there in 1943. He continued to work at Zlín for Bata creating body designs for vertical drilling machines. In 1947 he founded an industrial design studio in the Zlín Technical College. From 1959 he taught at the Institute of Arts & Crafts in Prague.

Zdenek Sverák: is a Czech actor, humorist and scriptwriter. He is one of the most popular Czech cultural personalities. He was a member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia from 1961 to 1969, which he discussed in an interview for the Czech magazine Reflex.

Zdenek Miler: Czech animator and illustrator best known for his Mole (Krtek or Krtecek in original) character and its adventures.He took part in the demonstrations held because of the death of Jan Opletal that lead to the closing of universities and colleges. He was fortunate enough not to be sent to a Concentration camp. Instead he wound up working as an animator.
