Ch'eng Mao-yün Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese
Ch'eng Mao-yün: was a Chinese composer and a professor at National Central University and Hangzhou Societal University (??????). He composed the "National Anthem of the Republic of China."his submission of the melody of "Three Principles of the People" was chosen. In 1947, he travelled to Taiwan for the first time, where Hsiao Er-hua (??? Xiao Érhuà), head of the College of Music in the Taiwan Provincial Normal University, offered Ch'eng Mao-yün a position, but he refused. He never returned to Taiwan again. He had a stroke in 1951 in Xi'an, and he died of second stroke July 31, 1957.[1]

Ling Yun: is a former politician of the People's Republic of China, the first PRC Minister of State Security.He joined the Chinese Communist Party in April 1938. After a period of political activism in Shanxi province, he arrived in the central party base in Yan’an, Shaanxi, in 1939. Here he joined and advanced in the ranks of the Central Department of Social Affairs, led, at the time, by Kang Sheng. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China and dissolution of the Social Affairs Department, he served in the public security sector, first in Ji’nan, Shandong, and beginning in 1952 in the Ministry of Public Security, where he eventually advanced to the post of vice-minister. Ling Yun was Minister of State Security from June 1983 to September 1985.

Long (Lung) Yun: was governor and warlord of the Chinese province of Yunnan from 1927 to near the end of the Chinese Civil War, when he was overthrown in a coup by Du Yuming under the order of Chiang Kai-shek in October, 1945.For four days the excitement continued. Soldiers of Chiang Kai-shek's army were all over the place. Only a few companies of Lung's troops did any shooting, and the Dragon never had a chance. On the fourth day Premier T. V. Soong flew down from Chungking. He and the Chinese commander in chief, General Ho Ying-chin, had a morning conference with General Lung, that afternoon escorted the amiable old scoundrel by air to Chungking. General Lu Han, Lung's former aide, took over the Yunnan government for the Generalissimo.
Hsu Yun Origin/Culture/Country: Chinese
Hsu Yun: was a renowned Chán Buddhist master and one of the most influential Buddhist teachers of the 19th and 20th centuries. He is often noted for his unusually long lifespan, having lived to age 119. His first exposure to Buddhism was during the funeral of his grandmother. Soon afterward he began reading the Sutras, and later made a pilgrimage to Nanyo. When he was fourteen years old, he announced that he wished to renounce the material world in favour of monastic life. His father did not approve of Buddhism and had him instructed in Taoism instead. From the start, Hsu Yun was dissatisfied with Taoism, which he felt could not reach the deeper truths of existence. The storerooms of his house were full of very old books. Going through them, he found a volume called the 'Story of Incense Mountain', which described the life of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva Kuan Yin). After reading the book, he was deeply influenced and was aspired to go forth from the home-life to monkhood to practice the Buddhist Path in the future. He didn't want to be an official nor to be a wealthy man. He decided that a life of simplicity would exemplify his resolution to practice pure and lofty ideals
