Yuan Muzhi: was an actor and director from the Republic of China and later of the People's Republic of China.As an actor, Yuan became extremely popular and took on the nickname "man with a thousand faces." Yuan gained prominence in a series of films for the leftist Diantong Film Company. These included the film Plunder of Peach and Plum (1935) (which Yuan also wrote) and the movie Sons and Daughters in a Time of Storm (1935) where he was one of the two original singers (along with Gu Menghe) of the movie's theme song, The March of the Volunteers, which later became the national anthem of China.

Wei Yuan: was a Chinese scholar from Shaoyang, Hunan. He moved to Yangzhou in 1831, where he remained for the rest of his life. Wei obtained the provincial degree (juren) in the Imperial examinations and subsequently worked in the secretariat of several prominent statesmen, such as Lin Zexu. Wei was deeply concerned with the crisis facing China in the early 19th century; but, while he remained loyal to the Qing Dynasty, he also sketched a number of proposals for the improvement of the administration of the empire.

Zhang Yuan: is a Chinese film director often considered a pioneering member of China's Sixth Generation of filmmakers.[1] Zhang received a BA in Cinematography from the Beijing Film Academy in 1989.[1]Zhang first emerged onto the film scene shortly after the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 and as such is often seen as one of the pioneers of the loosely defined Sixth Generation. Despite having graduated from the now prestigious Beijing Film Academy, Zhang decided to eschew his assigned position within the PLA-connected August First Film Studio, choosing instead to produce his films independently.[2] Much of his early films were shot in a documentary-style and Zhang himself referred to these early films (Mama, Sons, and Beijing Bastards) as "documentary feature-films."[3]

Liu Yuan: is a male amateur boxer from PR China. He qualified to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the bantamweight division (– 54 kg) where he lost in the first round to Cuba's eventual gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux.Liu qualified for the 2004 Athens Games as a bantamweight by ending up in second place at the 1st AIBA Asian 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Guangzhou, PR China. In the final he lost to Pakistan's Mehrullah Lassi.
