Wei Yuan: was a Chinese scholar from Shaoyang, Hunan. He moved to Yangzhou in 1831, where he remained for the rest of his life. Wei obtained the provincial degree (juren) in the Imperial examinations and subsequently worked in the secretariat of several prominent statesmen, such as Lin Zexu. Wei was deeply concerned with the crisis facing China in the early 19th century; but, while he remained loyal to the Qing Dynasty, he also sketched a number of proposals for the improvement of the administration of the empire.

Su Wei: is a Chinese professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. He is also a member of the China men's national basketball team. Su was a part of the Chinese national junior basketball team that competed at the FIBA Under-19 World Championship 2007. He averaged 11.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the 12th-placed Chinese team. He made his debut for the senior team at the FIBA Asia Championship 2009; at 20 years of age, he was the second youngest Chinese player at the tournament. He saw action in five of nine games for the silver medal-winning Chinese team. With the silver medal performance, China qualified for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Zhang Wei: is a female Chinese basketball player who was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2005 Asian Championship. She will compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
