James Gillespie: a Scottish footballer who played for Renton, Greenock Morton, Sunderland, Sunderland Albion, Third Lanark and the Scotland national team.Gillespie, an Outside Right, won a championship title with Sunderland in 1892-93 and scored a total of 47 goals in 129 appearances over 2 seasons. He had joined Sunderland after spells in Scotland with Renton and Greenock Morton. He moved to Sunderland's rivals Sunderland Albion in for a short period but returned to Roker Park in 1892.

Gregory Gillespie: was an American magic realist painter.In 1962 he received the first of two Fulbright-Hays grants, for travel to Italy to study the work of Masaccio. He lived and worked in Florence for two years, and in Rome for six years, studying the works of such Renaissance masters as Carpaccio, Mantegna, and Carlo Crivelli, who was a particular favorite of Gillespie.[1] During this time he was awarded three Chester Dale Fellowships and a Louis Comfort Tiffany grant, and in 1966 he had his first solo show, at the Forum Gallery in New York. He returned to the United States in 1970.

Dana Gillespie: an English actress and singer.Dana was born in London on 30 March 1949. She is the daughter of Baron De Winterstein Gillespie, an Austrian radiologist. Dana grew up in England and her family's villa on Lake Maggiore, Italy.[1] She was the British Junior Water Skiing Champion for four years until an injury forced her retirement. She recorded initially in the folk genre in the mid-1960s, although she was more known at this time for being the girlfriend of Bob Dylan. Some of her recordings as a teenager fell into the teen pop category, such as the 1966 single "Thank You Boy", produced by Jimmy Page. Her acting career got under way shortly afterwards, and overshadowed her musical career in the late 1960s and 1970s. After performing backing vocals on the track "It Ain't Easy" from David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, she recorded an album produced by Bowie and Mick Ronson in 1973, "Weren't Born a Man".
