Sanjit 'Bunker' Roy: an Indian social activist and educator. In 1972 he founded the Barefoot college in Tilonia, Rajasthan. The Indian non-governmental organization was registered as the Social Work and Research Centre. Roy was influenced by the philosophy of Mao Zedong, and modeled his organization after Mao's Barefoot Doctors. He was in the thick of a controversy when the Aga Khan Foundation investigated and found that he had hired a professional architect to do the job that he claimed was done by illiterates in his organization. [3]The foundation subsequently replaced Roy's name with that of the architect, Neehar Raina, and forced Roy to return the award. Quoting The Hindu on the controversy,
