Sharman Joshi: an Indian film and theatre actor. He has worked on various stage productions in English, Hindi and Gujarati, though is mostly known for his work in Hindi movies.He made his film debut in the 1999 art film Godmother and received rave reviews for his portrayal of the title protagonist's troubled son.This was followed by Style (2001), which was a comedy and a surprise commercial hit. It was a low budget project produced by N Chandra involving a cast of newcomers. The movie was set in a college following the antics of a couple of students. Sharman's comic timing and performance was generally lauded and was considered the main reason for the success of the movie. The success of Style was followed with a sequel called Xcuse Me (2003), borrowing its name from the hit song of the first film, and other comedies like Shaadi No. 1 (2005).

Aravind Krishana Joshi: the Henry Salvatori Professor of Computer and Cognitive Science in the computer science department of the University of Pennsylvania. Joshi defined the tree-adjoining grammar formalism which is often used in computational linguistics and natural language processing.Joshi studied at Pune University and the Indian Institute of Science, where he was awarded a BE in electrical engineering and a DIISc in communication engineering respectively. Joshi's graduate work was done in the electrical engineering department at the University of Pennsylvania, and he was awarded his PhD in 1960. He became a professor at Penn and is the co-founder and co-director of the Institute for Research in Cognitive Science.

Nirmala Joshi: succeeded Mother Teresa as Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity in March 1997.She was educated by Christian missionaries in Patna (capital of Bihar state) but remained a Hindu until she was 24 and learned of Mother Teresa's work and converted to Roman Catholicism.Sister Nirmala has a master's degree in political science from an Indian university and additional training as a lawyer. She was one of the first nuns to head a foreign mission when she went to Panama.She later headed missions in Europe and in Washington D.C. in the United States, before being chosen to succeed Mother Teresa. She was based in Calcutta as head of the order's Contemplative Wing, in which nuns devote their lives to meditation.
